Notes: This hat is made sideways with short rows for shaping. To make this hat larger you can continue, in pattern until it is as big as you would like. Use the gauge to determine how many rows to crochet, with every 2 rows equaling an inch.

Ch 35,

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc across, ch 3, turn. (32 dc)

Row 2: (cable the first 4 stitches, dc 4) 3 times, cable next 4 stitches, sc in top of next dc, ch 3, turn. (29 sts)

Row 3: skip 1st sc, (bptc 4, dc 4) 3 times, bptc 4, ch 3, turn. (28 sts)

Row 4: cable the first 4 sts, (dc 4, cable next 4 sts) 2 times, dc 3, hdc 1, sc 1, ch 1, turn.

Row 5: sc 1, hdc 1, dc 2, bptc 4, (dc 4, bptc 4) 2 times, ch 3, turn. (24 sts)

Row 6: (cable the next 4 sts, dc 4) 2 times, cable next 4 stitches, dc 2, hdc 1, sc 1, cable the next 4 sts from three rows below, dc in same st as sc of row 2, dc 1, hdc 1, sc 1, ch 1, turn. (32 sts)

Row 7: sc 1, hdc 1, dc 2, bptc 4, (dc 4, bptc 4) across, ch 3, turn.

For size small: Repeat (row 2-7) 5 more times, then rows 2-3 once.

For size medium: Repeat (rows 2-7) 6 more times.

For size large: Repeat (rows 2-7) 6 more times, then rows 2-3 once.

To finish:

Fold the hat in half so that it is inside out and line up the seam and slip stitch along the edge using the open loops from the starting chain and the un-worked stitches of the last row worked. Fasten off leaving at least a 6 inch tail. Use this tail to close up the hole by weaving up and down between the end stitches. Fasten off.

Make a pom pom and attach it to the center top of the hat.
